Canada Northern Pike Fishing

Know as the “wolves of the water” the northern pike of Canada is a voracious predator. Canadian Northern Pike patrol northern lakes in Canada thrashing anything that comes within striking distance. The aggressiveness of the Northern Pike in Canada make them somewhat easy to catch because you simply need to get something in front of them to induce a strike. That’s not to say it’s easy to bring in a monster pike once you set the hook. If you are lucky enough to hook into a monster Pike, be prepared for a battle. Pound for pound Canadian northern pike are some of the best fighting fish in the world!

Canada Northern Pike produce chunky white Fillets that some anglers say taste as good as walleyes. The average size of a northern is 25 to 30 inches but trophy pike in Canada can exceed 50 inches. A close cousin to the Muskellunge, the Canada northern pike swim in most Canadian lakes and streams. The easiest way to tell a Canadian northern pike from a musky is to note that the northern pike has light markings on a dark background, while muskies generally have dark markings on a light background. Another method is to count the pores on the underside of the jaw. The northern pike in Canada has five or fewer while the musky has 6 or more.

North and central Canada have the best trophy Northern Pike fishing in the world. Come visit one of our lodges and experience the remote Canadian wilderness.
